5G was a hot topic at this year´s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The next generation of mobile systems is closer in time than many people may have thought and all the major vendors had something to show at the fair. However, to be able to run all the new applications everyone is talking about, in medicine, automation etc, the networks have to be optimized to a much higher degree than ever before. Latency is here a particularly important parameter.
Netonomics, one of the 300+ Swedish companies participating at the MWC in Barcelona, is working with exactly this in mind, which attracted several representatives from many operators to their stand. The Netonomics´ method of pooling radio access nodes into Base Band Hotels, and optimal placement of the BBH within each pool, provides maximum capacity with lowest possible latency. Radio performance is enhanced and transmission resilience secured by choosing the most efficient link for new CRAN nodes. All optimized for best resource utilization.
